Thanksgiving in Big Bear

Aaron, Ashby, and I left Thanksgiving morning for Big Bear. The 2.5 hour drive is short and the scenery during the last part is breathtaking. In the past we have always felt that we needed to stay in a suite because we needed additional rooms for Ashby. It has taken us three years to figure out that we do just fine with one room. :)

Our cabin was rustic - nothing fancy. Our goal was to find something clean and reasonable for three nights. We found it but I would have preferred for it to be a little cleaner and with a bath. The main purpose was to get-a-way as a family and just be with one another - and we did. A wonderful 2008 Thanksgiving in Big Bear!!!

Cabin #1 - Our first night we stayed in a cabin but the oven would not work so our entire Thanksgiving dinner that was already prepared the night before had to be cooked in the owners cabin. At 2:00 am we lost heat - not good and especially in November in Big Bear and the bed was at least 30 years old. If you know Aaron and I well we nicely demanded something better so we were upgraded. Not much of an upgrade but oh well!!! :) :)

Cabin #2

We spent a lot of time at the local playground and Big Bear Lake.

We spent a lot of time in The Village shopping for candy, seeing the lighting of the Christmas Tree, and just getting out for fresh air.

Back to the Candy Shop

Patiently waiting for the tree to light in the cold with an exhausted little girl.

Lighting of the Christmas Tree - it was cold and Ashby did not have a nap this day so she was exhausted. Santa Claus freaks her out a little and she just wanted to go back to the cabin and as Ashby says "mommy, I just want to watch a little tv." :)

Our short Woodland Trail hike - very short but entertaining. Ashby found a walking stick, we played "Dora adventure," and collected a few nature things.

A very patient daddy waiting for his two slow girls who arelagging behind.

Aaron always makes fun of the fact that I usually can't take photos with 'open' eyes because my eyes naturally go into slits. So anyway, we were experiencing with my eyes - check it out!

My Precious Girl - I love you so much.

26 Months Pregnant

Five minutes of Ashby playing and just having fun while her parents relaxed on a bench.

Ashby and I playing the "Dora Adventure" game.

While driving home Ashby falls asleep in the car at 10:30 am - very surprising. This girl rarely falls asleep in the car and if it happens she does not transfer. Ashby woke up 20 minutes before arriving home - pretty sweet deal.
